If I had access to $2 million I'd probably buy it myself. The rent on just the ground floor would probably cover the debt on the purchase in the short term, and once something happens across the street the value of the building would jump immediately.

Transportation costs seem high? Ours went up a lot a few years ago when we bought a car (used, but in good condition, miles not too high) and our transportation costs are still like half of that.

Admittedly our hosing costs are much higher though, and more than cancel out the lower transportation.

I'm assuming it's dead, sadly. Looking into it, the lender repossessed the building in March 2023 and later that year there was a permit issued to remove the scope of work that would have made the venue possible (restrooms at level 1, etc) www.portlandmaps.com/detail/permi...

But it might work for us!

Yeah I keep thinking it would make sense for one of them, and it’s a shame none of them seem to have agreed yet.

Maybe one day? While there's not a lot of demand between Portland and Tapei specifically, they could provide one-stop service between Portland and a lot of destinations in SE Asia. And on the US side, they partner with Alaska who are rapidly growing their Portland hub.

Do the passengers actually leave the plane? I wouldn’t think they would.

Brutal journey for a hypothetical passenger departing from Portland though…

Huh! That certainly would have been the standard at one point, but I can’t think of the last time I saw a house built like that, in Scotland at least. Maybe there’s a regional variation I wasn’t aware of?

Those are probably stick built with masonry veneer. There’s an aversion to wooden housing in the UK, so new build single family housing is built to look like it isn’t the wooden housing that it is.

I really don’t understand what’s driving PBOT’s insistence on getting rid of the streateries

Whoa those are eyewateringly huge
