dayjob: network building so that our boys and young men of color can not just survive, but thrive. inbetween days: pop culture, northwestern, cubs, bulls, uswnt, usmnt, and rooting on folks i used to do harolds with back when it was called improvolympic.
Good point. My understanding is that Polisky handled it under the auspice of Dr. Jim, but I haven't really dug into the timelines of it all. (Also, I thought Polisky's AD aspirations were affected by how the cheerleader/donor harrassment complaints were handled.)

...that whole thing was a world class botch which hamstrung the whole University with that lawsuit.

...or those guys would've figured out how to squash it (a la Johnnie Vassar). It was the perfect storm of 2nd choice President + passive AD both of which appeared to have no informal authority.

While I wasn't crazy about Fitz in role as HC (4-20 in final 2 years)...

Perhaps this is too hypothetical: If Shapiro/Dr. Jim were in role when that complaint was filed, I'd imagine the investigation would've been completed and probably could've executed enough discipline and they had enough relationship that Fitz would've accepted it...

All we need is for the east side to be festooned in purple tarp.

Great, now I can't unsee it.

I was there, and was talking shit with this random Michigan fan the WHOLE GAME. Finally, DA dropped that wheel route, he came up to me and was like, "For real - good game, man." We dapped.

Then, Bryant fumbled, Kustok to Simmons, and I had to go back to him and give him a hug. He welcomed it.

Somehow my dude invokes both the audacity of Tim Doyle and the swag of Alex Marcotullio.

Forgot to include a scout for Craig - mainly a perimeter player. He would camp out in the corner for kickout 3s, and was probably hitting them at a mid-30% clip.

My other fun Craig Cackowski memory - besides him being a great teacher - Ike Barinholtz organized pickup hoops at Sheil Park for improvisers, and Craig would always wear an NFL Europe/Amsterdam Admirals t-shirt. Also, you always wanted to run with Jason Sudeikis, cause that dude could pass.

Also - I still remember that 20th Titanic anniversary show - that was so much fun. It was a treat and humbling to see y'all crush it.

Loved doing shows at the Shanley Shack! Brilliant move there to become the Mee-Ow stage producer. Liz is still tremendous - she did me a real solid a few years back by jumping into a zoom chat I was hosting and shared her SNL/comedy experiences. She's a gem.

...though I don't perform shows, I've been able to integrate improv in to my "work" practice, and have had opportunities to do workshops with nonprofit executives or systems leaders that invite them to play and practice vulnerability and discovery...Mike's been a valuable thought partner

Yes, I have! He's very kind to let me sit in with Tricky Mickey if my Chicago visits coincide with a show night. I've always admired Mike's approach to the work, and he's always been generous with sharing time just to process improv pedagogy (ugh, apologies for making that sound wonkish)...

...and instead of playing Whose Line short-form, I got hooked on long form. After graduating, I took iO classes in the fall, and thanks to my Titanic experience I got put on a harold team straight away.

Back in Fall '95, when I botched my Mee-Ow audition for the 4th year in a row, I saw a flyer for Titanic auditions and thought, "Let's give it one more go." Serendipity would have it that Liz Cackowski was a freshman, and offered - "Hey, my brother Craig is at iO, and can teach us the Harold" -

Oh man, we're both Titanic alum, too?! I knew there was a reason why I really dig your social feed!
