I wear a lot of wool. Not set fire to the kitchen for years now. Cats and hens can dispose of evidence: they are thorough but slow. Denizen of #Wulferhampton. In real world North West England. Mostly happy.
Good morning, #Wülferhampton!
Today is the 1st of December, and behind today's Spudvent calendar window is...
A Pentland Javelin!
A high-yielding, first-early potato variety known for its waxy, creamy-white flesh and good disease resistance.
A fine potato!

Also, lost his brother just after VE day. Hit a mine in the North Sea.
Last time i6 was back in Crosby I took a photo of his name on the war memorial. I was pissed and it was at 1:30 am.
Fittingly so, I felt.

Shh. No-one say anything, but there is a train on time.
Pretend you haven't noticed: we don't want to scare it.

You've just died.
The 6th picture in your phone gallery is what killed you.

No just Whalley.
Whalley Range is in Manchester.
Whalley is in East Lancs and has a rather agreeable ruined abbey and day-tripping Mancs drinking to excess. I have no pics of the Mancs, but a few of the Abbey.

It's quite compelling.

I mean, it isn't just her.

My former MP never took a good photo.
But he was Mark Menzies.

Would seriously recommend the Philharmonic pub.
There are a lot of good pubs. St Nicholas Church at the Pier Head is worth a visit.
When they were starting to build the Catholic Cathedral, they had a number of interesting ways to raise funds.

This is one of my favour paintings at the Walker in Liverpool.
Samsung and Delilah.
Your phone does not do it justice: it's HUGE

I know it was John the Baptist famously, but I think others followed in his path of living in the desert wearing camel-hair robes, eating locusts and honey. Ideally without the Salome linked decapitation.
Admittedly in this she looks uninvolved, like a bored waitress seving Baptist head to table 9.

Clovis.
Looking like dignity is something that happens to other cats.

A syrup three-some.
That's the last thing I wanted to think of.
November 15, 2025 at 10:17 PM
You mean the martial art of Lancashire?
November 14, 2025 at 8:24 PM
I do rather like the expression on the socket. It seems saddened.
November 14, 2025 at 8:07 PM
Apologies. Have been on the taxidermy section of Ebay again.

WHAT FRESH HELL IS THIS?

We can play a game of Guess Where Mac will be on Monday.

Anyway, after yhe debit card incident, we had a good wander round Whalley Abbey, and into St Mart & All Saints church (appropriate for today). Lovely ruined Abbey, but I am intrigued by "William the Wolf" though. How would a clerical that sobriquet?
November 1, 2025 at 7:45 PM
I am an idiot.
Driven over to Whalley with daughter to get her a pair of boots.
Left debit card in shorts as I went for a run this morning and wanted to pick something up fron a shop.
So far she's had to spring for her boots and is now buying me lunch still, nice gatehouse.

Happy Halloween.
Have gone old-school.
I'll be honest, he looks more drunk and slightly baffled than scary. Still, he'll fit in.
October 31, 2025 at 12:48 PM
He's terribly wise.
Clovis concurs.
