Groups that appeared between 2022 and 2023 are called midgen. In turn groups that have emerged since 2024 and 2025 are called "newgen." And they are active across a wide swatch of mainstream social media platforms and encrypted communication applications.

The groups in the Com Network are the teams. In the Com Network, the most popular and infamous group is 764. 764 are the Montreal Canadiens of the Com Network (and this breaks my heart to say as a Habs fan.) In the NHL the Canadiens have the most championships and are an Original Six team.

The Com Network, like the NHL, is the overarching organizational structure and ecosystem. The different types of criminal behaviors and threats present in the Com Network are the NHL divisions. Where the NHL has four divisions, the Com has Cyber, (S)extortion, & Offline Com.

Since the Annunciation shooting in Minneapolis, I have bee transcribing the attackers diary, I have transcribed 231 of 291 pages. The diary is handwritten with (mostly) Cyrillic letters to look “Russian” but are English words spelled phonetically.

All of these recent Swatting incidents are linked to a Com network group called Purgatory who have been livestreaming the Swatting calls on Discord Stages and in Telegram Livestreams.

In 7 days (July 18), my book "QAnon: From Conspiracy Theory to New Religious Movement" is going to be published. It's grounded in 5 years of digital ethnographic work in QAnon milieus. I never thought my PhD research would be relevant 8 years after QAnon emerged.

The mall plot was linked to a member of 764. 764 is a nihilistic violent extremist group within The Com Network. Bartkus, who blew up the IVF clinic was an Eflilist and stated in his own manifesto that he was not a nihilist. Nihilism is not a catch all for fringe subcultures you do not understand.
