We did the Covid 19 survey right through the pandemic. Forms, swabs, blood tests. First few goes with the scalpels got blood all over the kitchen: but barely any in the tubes. Collectors stood in the heat at the front door shouting tips. Improved though. And got vouchers.

Oh, locally, you want physio, you pay. My point was more specific. GPs have to refer to "orthopaedic choice" which refers to surgeons. I guess it's meant to keep people out of surgery. If you need surgery, it's just pointless delay. But as it's there, why not keep it involved to get/keep ppl fit?

Just had a hip op. To add to your point, the NHS adds to waits by forcing patients to physio run MSK service first. Adds weeks. Yet when surgery scheduled, they vanish. Why no prehab, as they are there?

Added to which, neither have books, and Poirot, in particular, often lets the culprit go off to kill themselves, as his case would never stand up in court.

Very unlikely. Care homes are run by large, highly leveraged groups, or families. Groups will reduce standards or exit. Others are barely afloat. Higher wages, training, etc, would require more money from councils already being bankrupted by care costs. And govt doesn't want to go near that mess.

Problem in journalism as well. AI can churn weather reports, or fete write ups, or local business puffs. But how do juniors learn the formats that will allow them to handle complex stories if they do (never mind spot a story, ask the question the slop is never going to include, etc).
