I don't think it's a chippy, in the way I'd use the word in Brighton. We've got fancy chip shops kind of like this one, no fish, no sausages, just chips with very fancy sauces.

Would you use 'chippy' for something like this?

Just searched for it and got 0 matches. He doesn't give verb forms, so past tenses only show up in quotations. There are no past tenses in the entry for 'plead' but there are 'pleaded's (no 'pled') in quotations in other entries
