Cats are instantly skeptical of this tree thing

The full thing. It was a wild ride! Sirdar Christmas crochet along blanket

This is what you do when you finish a blanket, right? Lol I don’t know if I’ll ever do a crochet along again 🚂🎁🌲

I had to drive to Bremerton for this.

I’ve never crocheted dolls before but why not what could go wrong.

My daughter came in 3rd for girls in her grade in the turkey trot and won potatoes.

Okay. Laid out what it would look like if I out all the wheels on because maybe I just make it weird. And, of course, while the wheels are all the same size, and often they are too big, they fit fine SOMETIMES, because the problem was always me not being able to maintain consistent tension.

Trying to fake two apart, on one I can’t find a white end and on the other I found it, but I’m still trying to detangle it after so throughly sewing in the edges. Yup, I’m a bit screwed here.

Took some time to think / crochet in a little smoke for the train engine, and my new plan is to wait until the very end and if it’s impossible to take the wheels apart I’ll just make new wheels out of whatever colors I have left.

*deep, deep breath” Houston, we have a problem. My wheels are too big for the train I crocheted. I’ve already sewn the white threads into the wheels so undoing them and re-doing them is gonna be a nightmare. I think I actually made the blanket a bit small, because I probably measured the wheels 😬😅🫠

Week 5 (& week 5 part 2 since they missed some stuff the first time) of the Sirdar Christmas crochet along done! My kids did get some mess on the blanket tho, so I’ve run it through the wash. Seems to have held up fine? One week to go!

For #crochetaway this week, one day I’d love to make a mosaic labyrinth blanket. It would be such an endeavor, but I love how these look.

Finally finished the long red & white + green loop border on this Christmas blanket. Ya know, other than sewing in approximately one billion edges.

I could have got 9/9 if I was bolder with John Turturro, I literally just watched all his Coens I should have had this one. (Once I flubbed it I got lazy with Viola).

990 loop stitches later (I had to do one row twice), I still don’t like the loop stitch. But at least I’ve gotten better at it! Before I wraps up this border with some more red and white stripes, I’m gonna bite the bullet and do the loops on the other side.
November 12, 2025 at 6:26 AM
Don’t enjoy a loop stitch. Not excited to do multiple rows of 165!
November 11, 2025 at 6:53 AM
I like this border pattern, too. It’s a moss stitch pattern with double (treble) stitches instead of single (double), alternating colors every other row. There will be more bits on this border I have to do next, but I l don’t think I’ll like those stitches as much 😅

Week 4 of the Sirdar Christmas crochet along complete! The actual work was really fun, but sewing all the edges of the toys was a slog while my kids crawled all over me and bickered over everything. At least they paused long enough to excitedly name everything I put on the train!
