A warm brown ink that is supposed to smell like tobacco.
I can say Diamine has improved significantly with this one. Not only is the scent inoffensive, but it's actually pretty nice to write with. With a fine nib dip pen it displays some nice shading

A bright red pigment ink. Like most of its kind it does not display any shading or sheen. It will however stain anything it comes into contact with and be very stubborn to remove.

Swatched on Iroful, Tomoe River and Rhodia paper.
A "blurple" (blue leaning purple) with neon green sheen in the right light.
Unlike some of my monster-sheening inks it appears to be fairly well behaved and I'm not worried it will clog my pens.

IMO pen wise you cannot go wrong with a Pilot at any price point.
They're all solid and reliable. The gold nibbed ones are nice but you can get around 75-80% with a Metropolitan.

I have personal experience with the latter and as long as you let it dry for about 12 hours it's pretty resilient. It's also incredibly well behaved and I've left it in my pens for months without it causing problems.
