This requires cars to drive across parked cars and a sidewalk to hit cyclists. It also makes it so parked cars can’t door cyclists on the passenger side. A concrete barrier could also do this, but it would cost a lot more money to build one everywhere you want a bike lane. 3/4

I dont understand why what works in the Netherlands can’t work here. Their system is simple. Starting from the center line, put as many car traffic lanes as you plan to have. Next to that, put vehicle parking. After that, put the pedestrian sidewalk. Lastly, put a bike lane. (2/x)
