The evolution has denied this condition, anyway, so the modern name actually is a variation of the Budivojice without the second OV, and the first VO was sort of exchange with the JI. In Moravia they have Moravské Budějovice, the same name, but the German names of the 2 differ, Budweis, Budwitz.

-ovice is a standard suffix for a place, usually a village, in the plural form. It looks complex but -ov- is an insertion without real new meaning that simplifies the pronunciation if the previous root, like Budivoj, is connected with the simpler geographic suffix -ice.

It's OK, it is a difficult word and your spelling actually reflected some historical origins of the name. The old village there used to be called Budivojovice. ;-) Budivoj is a 2-part man's name, budi- is to wake, -voj is a root for soldiers, army, so he was the Man-Waking-the-Troops.
