AI companies' logos are constantly mediocre. What's with that?

I do believe that virtue signalling is a thing. But sometimes it's actually called 'boycotting'

A case for cloud infra (and against rolling your own) is that yes, AI has lowered the bar for creating software, but also hacking software. It's easier than ever for less technical folk to get paid services for free

Something that kills me about being in a technical role but not needing to code day-to-day is that on the occasions I need to re-spin up an environment – it's guaranteed that a million dependancies have changed & I'd have been better off just killing the old environment and starting fresh each time

This is outrageously cool, but also, being a childhood fan of Crichton's 'Sphere' …I can't help but imagine it being attacked by a giant squid 😆 www.deep.com

Realised that a number of ex-GitHubber-founded companies exited this year… which is pretty fucking cool: github.com/lukehefson/e... #github @github.com
Recent exits by lukehefson · Pull Request #20 · lukehefson/ex-githubber-companies
Seems like a bunch of companies in this list had some kind of exit in 2024. Rad. 🙌
Can't wait to see what these folk do next.

Miami suggestions for a long weekend with a 10yr & 12yr old?
Things we like:
- Hipster neighbourhoods with coffee shops & boutiques you can walk around
- Wildlife experiences (Gators? Manatees?)
- Vegetarian food

When interviewing, assessing your future boss/peers is almost as hard hiring people yourself. Plenty of times I’ve been interviewed and thought the interviewer was useless but they turned out to be amazing. Or, I thought they were great but then discover it was all veneer

TIL that mosquitos don't just carry the 'big name' illnesses that you've probably heard of, but also a range of less-known ones that can be asymptomatic or very mild. Live in a mosquito-y place? That last cold you had might not have been a cold 🙃

I’d personally give an AI full access to my shit if I could just say: ‘Make sure I get this type of notification on this device when this happens’ …without dealing with endless conflicting app or system settings 😩

Don't let my @workbrew.bsky.social colleagues fool you with their cutie patootie, all-smiles team photo. Deep in their brains they are hard at work thinking about how to bring the best `brew` DX to developers – all while helping companies to stay secure and compliant 🥹 techcrunch.com/2024/11/19/w...

No, really. 'Cronyism' has more bite than 'nepotism' so let's use it. Just like 'nepotism' sounds harsher than 'referral' (as it should)
Petition to have people start using the word 'cronyism':
- 'Nepotism' usually means family but can include friends if there is a familial connection
- 'Cronyism' means friends or someone in your social circle

I am slightly concerned that if I were to mute all the posts on here that mention the platform itself that there would be very little content 🙃 (and yes I'm aware that I'm being hypocritical/meta)

Before workbrew.com I was researching companies for my next gig and good lord they all need to come up with more original logos/marks. Especially the AI companies. Happy to say I love the workbrew mark.

TIL that tech is pretty much the only industry where ‘Staff’ is more senior than ‘Senior’. And now I think about it- the wording does make more sense for “on staff but not yet senior”. Tech is weird.

One of the best bits of advice I ever got was:
If you're feeling sleepy during the day, have a coffee and then immediately take a 20min nap (no more!). It's just enough time for the caffeine to take effect and you wake up feeling amazing!
