tbh, i've recently come to think an incidental function of organized religion was to regulate the craziness of those prone to it. hundreds of years ago, if someone said they were given messages by angels or whatever, priests would generally be able to talk them or the community down.

i think BJG had an ok hit rate as a columnist since editors would select her strongest takes and her rhetorical skills were strong when grounded in substance, but yeah, her twitter was always spotty.

my impressions by the time i stopped paying attention to her are that she is extremely rhetoric-brained, and if anything shocking can be cleverly captured in a short phrase, that's what she'll gravitate towards, even if it's an obvious stretch, offputting, and/or a weird point to focus on.

this episode is what finally convinced me that histrionic personality disorder is definitely real
