Quite a lot of info in this thread - it’s a big and complex piece of work - but the blog aims for a digestible overview:

Task for today: brainstorming better ways to visualize heavily annotated text. The more I think about it, the harder it gets...
• Partial overlaps → clutter & a11y issues
• Exact overlaps → even worse
• Stacked underlines → work great... until they don't.

Seen elegant solutions? I’d love to chat!

People are applying and will apply for transatlantic co-funded
projects with NSF and other US grant agencies. What are the implications for international research? It would be nice to see international reactions to this as it hurts all research across many many countries.
🚨BREAKING. From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled. I will be sharing screenshots of these keywords along with a decision tree. Please share widely. This is a crisis for academic freedom & science.

They found it helpful to pretrain by masking only nouns, verbs, and named entities, and only one at a time, rather than a random set of tokens, for languages where data are scarce.

In case you were wondering how things are going in Germany & on X, after Elon Musk announced his support for the far-right "Alternative für Deutschland" (AfD) in the upcoming Federal election:
