it's more when it doesn't work though, I used nixos on my laptop for two years until it drove me crazy

I usually just use tmux sessions for each project and then open editors inside them, but naturally that only works if your editor runs in a terminal

that's super weird, I'm on debian trixie so a pretty recent kernel (6.12 I think?), maybe I've just got something horribly misconfigured somewhere :')

which one though? mine is 11th gen intel which I think was pretty bad for this, it's a bit better with deep sleep instead of s3idle but I'd still rather just hibernate or turn it off

yeah back when I had a work mac I was really impressed with how good the sleep was, and I used that all the time. but windows machines sometimes do stuff while they're sleeping and drain the battery, and my framework laptop with linux has worse battery drain when it's sleeping than when it's idle

as a linux user for both desktop and servers, I always have lots of swap on laptops and desktops so that I can hibernate them
do these people never use hibernate?

huh, syzygy tablebases are a collection of endgame databases used by chess engines as well, I wonder if the name comes from the same place

it's not just google either, my galaxy s24 has gemini and some other google AI things, but it also has a bunch of AI tools that come from samsung on top of that (couldn't tell you what any of it does though, I've turned off basically everything except circle to search)

it's such a waste of a really cool technology as well; like the techniques that LLMs and friends use have some extremely useful applications, but no, we just had to use them to make stupid chatbots and "art" generators trained on piles of stolen work

I'll happily admit that freebsd is awesome, but I imagine I'll need linux specific things on this machine so I don't think it'll happen

good thing there's plenty of space for those zeroes in the 7th guest bedroom, I'll have jenkins move them there at once
