I see how it could've been taken a different way, but I think the original post gave good insight, which in my mind I immediately consider as good advice.

I think you gave good insight and anyone trying to misrepresent that isn't helping.

I'm defending Layne -- not the commenters.

Honestly, anyone giving out advice should be given the benefit of the doubt because right now -- I can't. I can't find enough hope in this industry for anyone who isn't established. Which is a personal fault of my own for sure, but anyone who is trying to help should be given some credit.

But I think people are doing what they can and unless they’re asking for advice, it’s probably best to just let them help in the way they can help.

Should we criticize soup kitchens for how they cook? Or clothing drives for using the wrong fabrics? Because I can’t help but wonder if the energy of criticizing those who are help and doing it for free, would be better spent elsewhere. Especially when ICE is out there enforcing a fascist regime.

People often just regurgitate sayings, memes, and rhetorical patterns. We're in a time when powerful men in charge are being shitty and stripping away rights. So there's a lot of punching up against them. And then some non-critical thinkers apply that to everything regardless of it making sense.
