their actual mechs are teensy tiny compared to the other mechs in the setting because they're old as shit and not really designed to do much more than "stand in place and mine rocks"

With this particular model? I’ve been using Olfa’s till now. It does the job but I’d like something a bit easier and more reliable. They also recommend it for 0.4mm max and I only have 0.5, we’ll see how it handles it.

Very cool, and looks great! Xekus need more love, and by love I mean HGUC retooling, a MG and some Xeku Zwei along the way. By far my favorite Gundam grunt.

There's another one (Reaper Crest), which seems to me much more forgiving, I'd suggest giving it a go. And there's one that's even worse than the base one, if you really wanna suffer.

But you can just pick another Crest. Although I can't recall how much platforming is involved before you get a different one.

Yeah it's fancy! I think it's a Formart that goes for about 3k. I know people build this type of machines from scratch, but this one looks pretty convenient. I think he uses 2mm sheet at one point and that's probably tough to heat up with handmade machines.
