It seems somewhat sad that in 2026 working class people are still needing to speak out to be supported in vocations. God who calls and knows everyone by name cares about us all equally and so our call should be recognised equally.
Today is the final day of February's General Synod and and here's what to expect. ⬇️

Have the joy of preaching at St Hildas and St Cuthbert's Kirkleatham this morning. Do not worry. Are you not of more value than they are? The God who created the heavens and the earth cares deeply for you.
Pray for both congregations that they will hear from God today

First monthly prayer walk of the year this evening. We all paused at the racecourse as we admired the moon. Each month we walk a section of the parish. Praying and giving thanks. Tonight as we prayed we also have thanks for creation

Home after a weekend residential at Mirfield. It's it's been one of the best weekends I've had there. Lots of good discussions. We had some taize worship and we sung the Peruvian Gloria. Some good teaching on Blended spirituality. Lots to ponder about but yeah a great weekend

Never thought I'd use the phrase "it goes in one ear and out the other" when preaching... Until today. When Jesus says let anyone with ears listen... Well we can listen but let's not let it go in one ear and out the other. It got a chuckle in church so they were definitely listening 👂

A really encouraging afternoon. Makes me feel united with others on the journey. Great to hear wisdom from the Archbishop and also time in our Archdeaconry groups.
This weekend, our ordinands gathered at Bishopthorpe Palace to meet the Archbishop of York for a time of prayer and fellowship as they prepare for their ministry.

Please keep them in your prayers as they take the next steps on their journey.

Led Advent course last night. Hope. May we always have hope. Hope in God not just now but hope in him for the future. Really encouraged by the discussion as we thought about being the hope for the community we serve
