There are parts where you can walk the shore, such as at Rea's Wood, but I don't think it's accessible the whole way round. There's a suggested route incorporating some roads though.

Yes, we discuss that aspect a bit in the article (but have more to say on it, hopefully in another piece that's to come at some point). We argue that the environment is a salient issue, but not in a way that makes it easy for parties across the divide to agree on solutions.
