Maybe I can write Boustrophedon correctly on first try each time without copy-pasting it form eg. LaValle lavalle.pl/planning/nod...
Bophoustredon. Bostrouphedon. Boustrophedon... I'll just write 'ox'

Maybe throw in a Traveling Salesman Problem solver to plan a route through all swaths, but I'm just getting my feet wet in the problem at all.

We already have something that works OK with enough manual massaging of the input, but not general enough. And we want to reduce the input workload

So in first instance, I'm just going to generate a bunch of directed parallel lines and clip those at the edges, assign a direction and go from therese. Probably combines with a more general coverage planner for the more free form polygonal headlands.

Maybe partly for the larger, open areas. Some of the tools on the robots have a directionality (like a camera for scouting, sprayers, swing mowers etc), so can only be used when driven in one particular direction so the tool faces the plants.

At the moment it's fairly bare bones and as simple a possible. We don't deal with open fields but lots of narrow lanes between rows of trees, vines etc. Those lanes are mostly rectangular, so planning could be reasonably straightforward. But defining/measuring the fields accurately is also crucial.

Robot is ROS 2-based, but planner runs in the cloud completely separate. That might change though.

I have been looking into Fields2Cover, but that is more suited for covering open fields, while our orchards and vineyards have a lot more obstacles in them. But also lots of structure that might help

Our robot aigro.nl/index_en.html can have side mounted tools, so that poses some constraints as well. Optimally connecting these paths to cover lanes & headlands, via 'highways' as well as those headlands is not quite trivial, but very interesting though! #robotics

The holonomic base is also quite handy for this task. And much simpler than legs

Waarom?

But, if they were made in the US, there probably would be more emissions involved in the production of all that 'stuff'. It's the global emissions that matter.

Transporting to the US would currently emit more, but apparently China now can build Thorium powered ships.

Would love for OpenStreetMaps to have map tiles for the Roman age. Looking at the Netherlands, whole provinces are in the maps that certainly didn't exist back then. And weirdly no Roman maps there either😀
