well, today i learned this valentine's card i made last year is "not safe for work"

i'm electing to forego marking it as such here, though, as i'm sure you can understand

#刑事ゼロ not expecting anyone to know or care here but i'm sick in the head. why would a kyoto cop own a barbour jacket (other than to differentiate him on screen from the version of himself with a twenty year memory gap)
a series of discord messages explaining the train of thought of "gay ossan" (me). it reads: "i'm so off the deep end i was looking at barbour jacket reviews on youtube last night trying to figure out which style and colour tokiya [rekihiko, lead character of keiji zero] wears (based on the lining colour it's probably a beaufort in sage? but i would need to find a moment where it's opened up more to see if the lining goes all the way down the length of the coat or not). but like. only the tokiya who lost his memories wears the barbour jacket. he's never shown wearing it when he has his memories. so my question then was why the fuck does he own it. and my working hypothesis is that it's for fishing (mic drop). i say fishing because i've watched like three other dramas now where sawamura's character says he goes on fishing trips for leisure and i'm beginning to think it's not a coincidence a still from keiji zero special 1. it shows okuhata, tokiya, and saso standing together in front of a river on the outskirts of the city, with namatame crouched in front of them and slightly out of focus. a still from (if i remember rightly) keiji zero episode 1. tokiya stands inside a storage room(?) with his hands hanging limply by his side, a somewhat despondent look on his face. a still from keiji zero episode 10. tokiya kneels on the ground outside of the kyoto detention centre looking off to the side of the frame, where saso leans down to look at him. ustumi is there too but most of him is cut off at the edge of the frame. tokiya holds a bloody knife in one hand, and his other hand is bleeding.

i finally watched the #rgg show last night and if you were interested in my verdict (tl;dr not great) here it is

[spoilers in images if you can bring yourself to care]:
the following four images are screenshots of discord chat logs. gay ossan, low res kashiwagi and m*rder are all me in several chats. gay ossan: finished episode 3 i'm very ??????? about the whole thing. not confused just questioning my life choices and those of everyone involved with production low res kashiwagi: yeah the most egregious things to me so far have been divorcing majima's Thing from saejima, having everyone just hate kazama straight out of the door with him having done nothing to exemplify why they hate him so much, and haruka just knowing people immediately because they made original yumi's role into like three separate characters gay ossan: the only things i remember happening are the things that defeat the entire point of the original story the most m*rder: this music sounds like a synth preset mieaus: idc about the credits btw im just brbing m*rder: elevator music but with more bass. in all so far i think this would be a lot more concise if they just kept it linear instead of trying to go a little crazy with the timeline mieaus: yeah. i havent seen anything that justifies the back and forth tbh m*rder: we don't need to swap every 5 minutes just let it play out. it's jarring [new screenshot] m*rder: guy has fans after being in the yakuza for [checks watch] a few months at best shabbergasted: it's his dashing boy band looks mieaus: 💀 m*rder: what the fuck is that knockback shabbergasted: blunderbuss m*rder: guy enchanted his fucking pistol with punch II [new screenshot] m*rder: just to remind you that it's set in japan we added east asian percussion over our awful synth preset ost [new screenshot] m*rder: love how people haruka know are immediately present not like that defeats her entire purpose in the plot or anything [new screenshot] m*rder: i really love how everyone's all dragon this dragon that when all this cunt did was get rolled in the coliseum and spend 10 years in jail fighting his own shadow gay ossan: yeah it kind of feels like they're trying to change the story for the sake of changing the story. because so many people now think that if you change something a lot it's going to always be better [new screenshot] gay ossan: i don't even care if it's not 1:1 (because they really DO have the opportunity to make yakuza 1's story not mid) but by eliminating the core themes of the story they've made it aggressively mid to people who don't know the game and highly egregious to anyone who does [new screenshot] gay ossan: i don't like to comment on people's appearance like that but i really don't think the guy they cast as nishiki is ikemen enough for it [new screenshot] Meow meow | Jo: If one gets introduced to the series first and then to the games I just know the disappointment would come gay ossan: idk if it would even be disappointment tbh, because the show does a godawful job of actually characterising anyone. like i don't think the show presents anything to the viewer that encourages them to actually care about what's happening to any of the main characters. they just kind of get dumped into the plot immediately and the pacing is so choppy that there's no time to get to know anyone
