Podcast journalist, editor, train nerd, unapologetically trans and queer. Will likely rant about a movie or Discworld at some point. Ride or die physical media defender. 35 (they/them).
Mini-update: There are now a flood of defensive positive reviews from AI-bro accounts acting like the AI criticisms are "slander" and there's a couple not-dev accounts in the Discord that are oddly passionate about defending the dev (who has not posted anything in a few days).

It's the classic example of a /r/iamverysmart internet hot take where, really, the hot take just shows you stopped actually thinking about the problem as soon as you reached a pithy take that TikTok would love.

Of course! It's rough out there, the first person job simulator market was already flooded with low-effort shovelware from fly-by-night developers. Generative AI has made their shenanigans even worse.

At least Powerwash Sim 2 didn't go down that dark path.

The dev cross-posted this on both the official Discord and in a Steam discussion thread: bsky.app/profile/love...
For posterity and context's sake, here is the dev on the official Discord server addressing the AI issue for the first time:

This actually started a MASSIVE fight in the Steam Discussion threads about the game and then the dev outright admitted they used gen AI in the "early development phase" but they then hand-drew cards to replace them. I believe that, but the music on the in-game radio is confirmed gen-AI.

What's worse: the dev is a "well, using generative AI is hard work too" kinda person and they're not going to add an AI disclosure to the Steam page until the vague deadline of implementing bug fixes.

Which TOTALLY isn't them riding out the initial wave of purchases or anything... :/

Just a buncha horny college journalists all cooped up in a hotel two blocks from 6th Street trying to organize anonymous parties but all of the colleges that sent them were broke-asses so nobody could host.

I technically scammed a now-dead app out of cheap socks 'cus all of us reporters from podunk southern Indiana already had Yik Yak installed. So we just uninstalled it and showed the guy the app re-installing from Google Play as if we were net-new.

Yik Yak in Austin that night was depressing.
