Did you know that there are "resignation agencies" in Japan that help employees quit their jobs?

They call your employer, submit your notice, and handle the administrative fallout. All so you never have to face your boss.

Inside A Japanese 'Resignation Agency': Why Japan's Workers Need Help Quitting Their Jobs
Too scared or anxious to quit your job? In Japan, you can hire a ‘resignation agent’ to quit on your behalf for 22,000 yen or US$147. Why is it so difficult for Japanese workers to resign? What is…

#Character is distinct from personality. And that distinction creates unique challenges when we try to assess it with #AI.

In our new chapter on positive trait assessment, Gloria Liou, Andy Jiang, and I explore what makes measuring virtues and strengths tricky - especially using #ML #assessment

AI can write your paper faster and better. But it can't increase your publishing chances. It may even worsen it.

New Science research shows that scientists using LLMs produce 36-60% more manuscripts! But for AI-assisted papers, sophisticated writing now predicts lower publication rates.

A nationally representative survey by the College of Public Health at George Mason University found that ~50% respondents use #AI to help with stress, anxiety, and mental health!

And a surprisingly large number of respondents are confident that AI can provide safe mental health guidance.
New survey explores the promise and peril of using AI for managing stress, anxiety, and other mental health needs
More than 80% of 25-34-year-olds and more than 50% of respondents across all age groups already use AI for mental health care.

In a recent conversation with organizational leaders, several mentioned using AI to help rewrite emails: not to change the message, but to get the emotional tone right.

Especially when there are frustrations, AI can soften language, reduce friction, and sound more constructive.

Ok - I'll admit it here. I said "6-7" in a research talk. I think I killed it.

AI at work is growing - but not evenly.

New Gallup data in Q3 2025:

🔹 45% of U.S. employees now use AI at work at least a few times a year (up from 40% in Q2)

🔹But daily use? Still just 10%

🔹76% of tech workers use AI vs. 33% in retail and 37% in healthcare
AI Use at Work Rises
New Gallup data show a continued rise in AI adoption rates across the U.S. workforce from Q2 to Q3 2025.

For decades, personnel selection research has focused on optimizing job performance.

But a new paper in IJSA by König et al. argues that well-being should be an explicit criterion in hiring, and not just performance.

This YouTube ad stopped me mid-scroll.

"𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 - 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐟 𝐬𝐡𝐞'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥."

As someone who researches #AI and #human flourishing, I find myself less concerned about whether people will form emotional bonds with AI. Because the fact is - they will!

I didn’t “grow up” in academia using #AI to #write. Because there was no option but to write it yourself.

But increasingly, I worry that younger scholars who lean on AI to write are significantly limiting themselves in subtle ways.

BUT - always make time and space to recognize and affirm their efforts. Notice the small efforts, not just the outcomes.

Yes - the science of putting numbers on abstract human phenomena like skills, personality, and abilities. And yes - I confess I'm a big nerd.

Organizational research reminds us that helping only works when people feel safe accepting help. Many employees hesitate to ask for help because they worry about looking less competent, owing something in return, or not trusting the helper.
