So anyway, if you think San Diego shouldn't be wasting millions on oppressive mass surveillance tech and should use funds for real safety like fire safety or public bathrooms, start by signing our new petition. It's a little thing but it's a start.

Idk how to snap people out of that fantasy that law enforcement is the untouchable pinnacle of community safety. They have waste and abuse just like anyone. Maybe crap like this police raid in South Park can help break the spell for some? This isn't public safety.

License plate tech has never proven to reliably reduce crime anywhere it's been used. it's a waste of funds. Leaders can say they want money for good programs, but none so far will consider redirecting mass surveillance $ to actual safety programs. Why? Because leaders take their orders from police.
