5. and finally, the thing i knew all along - i love books. i love reading and stories and words and writers. i love magic and swords and dragons and spaceships and lasers and found families and plot twists and enemies to lovers. i love it all. /fin

4. on the flip side: i DNF’d a book during this challenge (no regrets) and i love that i tried something a little different. it didn’t work this time, and that’s okay. but i’m glad i still experiment from time to time.

3. i have really good taste. some of the books i read in december ended up being favourites of the year. i love that i buy books that have a good chance of working for me.

2. i don’t like reading to a schedule! this project was ambitious, of course, but i found myself reading *less* than i usually would. i found myself reluctant to pick up books i was loving, for absolutely no reason, and i never feel this way!

1. i actually enjoy having a small pool of books to choose from. i like having between 3 and 15 books waiting on the sidelines. having the freedom of choice means i sometimes pick a book that is perfect for how i feel at that moment, and imo, that’s magic.

FINAL UPDATE: i almost made it!!! by the start of 2025, there were only two books i owned that i hadn’t at least started reading. i have Learned Many Things during this, such as…
