modern AU designs for characters from FAHAH (Osmund, Cemil, Emre, Sakina and Mirhan) looking like they're all together at college or something. I'm always sad to miss another year of SPX but I had a great time at local SFF convention Armadillo Con here in Austin! (the 4-H horse book was a freebie from a series of excellent horse primer panels with @saraamueller.bsky.social !)

(more sweet and self-indulgent modern AU)
Osmund from FAHAH holding his daughter (invented for the modern AU). He's at a first-time parenting meetup having a conversation with some new moms. Mom 1: It's really amazing how much she looks like you AND your husband! Whose daughter is she? Oz: she's ours (?) Mom 1: Yes, but genetically! Oz: O-oh! Um, still ours. Mom 2: Really? My brother is gay, and he said the medical science isn't there yet. Oz, overwhelmed: Uhhh... Oz has gone to Cemil with his head in his hands. Cemil is holding the daughter now. Oz, lamenting: We can never come back here Cemil: what happened? Oz: I told the new moms that we became parents after I gave birth via holy miracle Cemil: Why? Oz: I didn't want to out you without your permission and I panicked Cemil kisses Oz's cheek as he pouts. Cemil: It's okay love, I'll fix it. They've both gone back to the circle of new moms. Cemil unflinchingly gives a speech while holding their daughter. Oz looks embarrassed. Cemil: My husband was joking before. I'm a transgender man. I had eggs extracted and frozen before a surgery to remove my uterus. When we decided to have a child, a fertility doctor combined my eggs with Osmund's sperm and implanted the embryo in a surrogate. Does that answer the question? Oz, thinking: we can definitely never come back here... (Narrator box: They did and it was fine.) Meanwhile the new moms say things like "oh, so like IVF" "cool" and "so you guys didn't even get to do the fun part!"

Oz continues scrolling and says "Oh, you posted something too? That's rare-" Then, in the second panel, he stares down at the phone, clearly shocked and rendered speechless Social media post from Cemil of Oz asleep facing the early morning window, apparently the photo Cemil took before. It's captioned "the love of my life. Wish me luck." With a ring emoji. It's got 28,492 likes (damn) Oz and Cemil embrace and kiss. Cemil is holding a ring. Narration says, "From now until time parts us, I want to keep both eyes open, facing you, and let the world bear witness to my love." Later in a gag panel Sakina says, clearly with a bit of The Ick, "you took a picture of him asleep in bed and posted him without asking? AND you told the whole internet you were going to propose? Cemil..." Oz says, while showing off the ring, "It was romantic!" Cemil just says "Don't argue with results" THE END lol

at the top, we see three images from Cemil's social media, which are very professional and look curated. "New post" is highlighted. Cemil sits on the bed beside Oz in the same scene from before and types on his phone. Narration reads "I should have realized you would misunderstand me. I'm still learning how to face the world without a mask." Oz sees light from the hall and begins to stir. Outside, Cemil walks through the early morning streets. Their text conversation reads: Oz: Going for a walk? Cemil: yes. (thumbs up emoji) Go back to bed. Love you. Narration reads: "But you, who trusts the world with everything. We can see that it's the modern day (and not the original setting fantasy scenes from before), Oz is lying next to his charging phone and is asleep. Cemil lies awake, looking disturbed with a tear in his eye. He thinks "A dream... it felt real". In the second panel he sits up to look at Oz who is still asleep Cemil takes up his phone and then takes a picture of Oz in the foreground. #makeaterriblecomicday2025 I'm coming in under the wire!! it was either this or my trip to the dentist so of course I chose elden ring
