You can find joy in the movie while ALSO recognizing/being deeply moved by the political messages the movie is beating you over the head with. It’s brilliant, and it ain’t subtle.

You do realize one of Glinda’s more memorable lines is, “Why can't you just teach us history instead of always harping on the past?” It’s an intentionally ignorant moment, underscoring how the entire movie is about authoritarianism, but some people don’t want to see it/just want to be entertained.

Looks like he’s hoping for a darker office. Tyrant? Despot?
