Kelly Reichardt has talked about how she had to correct Alana Haim when they were filming The Mastermind because Haim kept expressing affection for the two boys. "It's 1970. Parents don't give a shit about the emotional lives of their kids." People who are nostalgic for the good ol' days suck.

I don't know why I'm still so coy about this after so many years. It probably has something to do with the local TV reporter who put his camera in my face as I was walking into the courthouse, and the vague sense I've lived with ever since that our story would become some bullshit true-crime show.
