This is a German tank captured in WW1 and displayed on Horse Guards Parade in 1919. The tank was left open for anybody to climb inside. A police guard had to be posted, after reports of young couples getting up to a bit of tanky-panky. "Darling, when you said we should use protection..."

We've been enjoying a 1970s Christmas at the glorious Museum of the Home in Hoxton. Its period rooms are currently decked out to show what Christmas looked like in various decades and centuries. And it's FREE to visit, right next to Hoxton station

Fire in Holborn. Avoid any roads/buses going through the area north of Holborn Tube (Southampton Row/Theobalds junction). An underground fire in utility tunnels has the whole area cordoned off, with 10 fire engines on site

Did you know that if you go to the eastern end of the platforms at Tower Hill, you can see a fragment of Roman wall embedded in the tunnel? It's not the most impressive fragment, but the fact it's in a Tube station makes it that bit more magical

A statue of Bridget Jones has been unveiled in Leicester Square. Creator Helen Fielding was there to see it, along with stars from the franchise including Sally Phillips.

Now how long until someone adorns it with a pair of big pants...

Apparently, Tower Bridge has a 'hidden setting' that allows the bascules to dip down into the water. It was installed during the 1960s when it briefly looked like hovercraft would become popular. 🤪
