- The Grands Mulets Hut (3,057 m) at foreground
- The monolithe Aig. de Saussure (3,839 m) to the L.

On 20th Dec. in the morning, a huge aerosol caused by the break-up of a serac from the Aiguille Verte summit ice cap ran down the Cordier couloir and ended up on Argentière Glacier! 😮🧊❄️

Overview of a dying (former) ice front of one of major Alpine glaciers during last June crazy heatwave! 🧊🔥

The dead ice lowest point is ~1650 m and the ice cliff at the background - which hardly feeds it anymore - is ~2200 m asl 😨

I just tree ring dated this large stone pine cookie sampled in 2024 below the Argentière Glacier lateral moraine 🌲💍

It dates the Bronze Age Advance Period of this glacier to 1553+ BCE, which is conform to other calendar dates we have in the Alps at ~1550-1540 BCE (Mer de Glace and Gepatsch) 🧊⏱️

Ski lift operators are commiting what amounts to environmental crimes! 🤬

Since 2024, SATA which operates Deux Alpes ski area has levelled Mont De Lans Glacier and filled in a 2000 m² new glacial lake that had appeared around 2010... without any authorisation!
