Solo Xmas and chronically ill means treating myself and using minimal energy! Slow-braised corned beef brisket with potatoes, cabbage and basic mirepoix. A one pot decadent dinner, and I have a very happy belly 🎄

It's time for the holiday Covid surge! We've had our few weeks of a lull, and now that folks are prepping for travel and having lots of social gatherings the wastewater data is bearing out the impact.
This chart is specific to the US west, which tends to lag a bit behind the south and east.

On Nov 3 2024 it was at 70 PPM and was fairly flat until the first week of December, and then the line becomes almost vertical, shooting up to 120 PPM by December 8 2024. The data is an average of all the collection locations reporting: 74 reporting stations across the following states - AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA, WY.

Plain text explaining the bite a lemon challenge: Why a lemon? Biting into a lemon is just a symbol of the challenge. Suffering from ME/CFS is something completely different (what is ME/CFS?). Imagine your world like this: you suffer from chronic fatigue, your circulation is out of control, you can't concentrate, the slightest effort or stress makes your symptoms worse, you're in pain, you're extremely sensitive to stimuli. You struggle with other severe limitations and probably can't work or go to school anymore. ME/CFS mainly occurs after infections (e.g. COVID-19, influenza, EBV), i.e. anyone can get it. The symbolic lemon only causes a brief moment of shock, ME/CFS changes the lives of those affected – dramatically and permanently and without any perspective. That is why we are fighting for more ME/CFS research – please support our work!

Love me my hyperlocal honey! I had to give up my hives in the spring, and the beekeeper who took them on brought me this jar of goodness yesterday. It was a delightful surprise, and it tastes of East Van, with a touch of tang and maple. It's so much darker than previous years. Best on buttery toast!

Adventure day! I got my accessible parking pass, and woot am I excited. I haven't walked more than a block in ages, let alone drive and run errands. My #rollator was a champ - it held my bags, let me sit anytime, and no one honked at me when I sloowly crossed the street.
