7/ Finally, our findings reveal a distinct cellular and molecular fingerprint demonstrating the brain is organized around two complementary systems: one centered around language and the other around visuospatial attention.
Figure of the organization of the molecular and cellular profiles of the seven canonical intrinsic networks. We are revealing the existence of opposing lateralization profiles in language- and attention-related networks at the molecular and cellular level.

5/ We further discovered mitochondrial activity asymmetry aligns with this neurotransmitter axis, suggesting energy management in cells plays a pivotal role in supporting cognitive specialization.

3/ Our multimodal approach integrates fMRI, PET imaging, and transcriptomic analyses, uncovering an acetylcholine-norepinephrine neurotransmitter axis central to functional lateralization.
Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) results reveal the neurotransmitter receptor and transporter substrates underlying functional cortical lateralization. We are showing that an acetylcholine-norepinephrine axis underlines functional lateralization of language and visuospatial attention.
