law school has substantially changed my understanding of democracy in the netherlands. i learned that the people must have a say in the laws that govern how they use their electrical bikes. the legitimacy of the municipal electrical bike ordenances depends on democracy.

evergreen thing to say but i really don't like the latest pocket casts update. they renamed the filters to "smart playlists" which sure whatever, but also removed the ability to put custom colours and icons on them so you can easily distinguish them from the menu

a thing about "the danger of algorithms" that drives me up a wall is that people forget that algorithms can only manipulate numbers? everything that isn't already a number (e.g. watchtime) is tracked by proxies that are often crude and unreliable, like how often people use positive or negative words
