If you're really lucky, when you tell a great phlebotomist how great they are, they give you some tips on how to find your least terrible vein which you can recite to future non-them phlebotomists and make it about 20x more likely they succeed in one-two sticks instead of four+. True story.

I read some of her earlier work as Kate Griffin and really enjoyed the Matthew Swift series. She put some interesting twists on urban fantasy tropes in that one. Haven't done any of her Claire North work yet (my husband read and loved Harry August, and it's in my TBR along with Ithaca).

One we saw we dubbed "the house that taste forgot." Every room was all in on a different theme (rustic log cabin, Mediterranean with frescoes, Victorian, etc.) and none of them belonged in the same house. Owner had been a contractor and maybe done over each room with leftovers from a job?

Good luck. We had a bachelor nearby last year, and it took him about six weeks of 24/7 "HEY LADIES" to find a mate. This year, happily settled down, he did just a couple weeks of territory marking yells. Now he only screams while dive-bombing the local crows when they get too close to the nest tree.
