I think this is a key difference in thought. Either you think Democrats just didn't try hard enough or appoint the right fighters, or you realize that the problems go back a long way (including some Dems who are resistant to aggressive moves) and will likely take longer and consistent effort to fix.

People who blame Merrick Garland are deluded, often because they are still mad about Biden winning in 2020. Bolsonaro was indicted 22 months after the coup attempt, Trump was indicted 30 months after his. The difference is that Brazil's court ruled 6 mon after his coup that Bolsonaro couldn't run.

They can win on anything now. The problem is who sticks later. The main thing i think Democrats need to run on is being proud of being Democrats. Tell leftwing and moderate wreckers to screw off because we've had ten years of Bernieism splitting the coalition and 30+ years of third way doing it

So Rs give a little back but they will just keep breaking the law in other ways and SCOTUS will back them on most of it. I don't think you can just foresee every single thing they might do and write into into the budget bill, they need to be removed from power to actually stop the bad stuff

I think people really want Dems to say "I refuse to participate in this illegitimate government" which would be completely justified because Rs are not going to just stop doing this stuff! But from there things get pretty unpredictable so that's kind of the nuclear option
