Arrrgh! When we couldn’t get point of care lead screening testing, it was nearly impossible to get parents to go to the lab for it. Testing to see if they need more shots? Unneeded pain for babies, very low uptake and lots of wasted $$. Want more liver disease? This is the way!

So infuriating. Which new protection would you like to give up? HIB (meningitis, etc )? No? How about pneumococcus (meningitis, etc). Not that one? Rotavirus? (Used to hospitalize multiple dehydrated kids in a single day in our practice. ) Hep A, Hep B? Hard to pick. The shot pic isn’t scary…

I’m a US pediatrician and my grandson received excellent care at Kelowna General when he was born at 32 weeks earlier this year.

Looks like universal screening of pregnant women for HepB began in 1988 which likely explains the drop starting prior to birth dose. Practicing pediatrics since 1993, I had many moms who were Hep B carriers. Birth dose also protects babies from exposures from the family members we don’t test!

As an actual middle-aged woman, I am banned from all things Twilight. I never restricted my kids’ reading in any way but I did mock them for Twilight because the writing was SO bad. (They read them anyway…it was the 90s.) Can’t risk getting off of my high horse now-might break something!

Absolutely agree except I’d say 100% instead of just “largely”. He was sowing the seeds of this mess for many years before he took his current position. Vaccinations rates have been falling and we’ve now crossed the threshold for sustained transmission. Shameful.

Yes, I saw someone suggesting that this vote meant legislative branch reclaiming their power. Ha! To me, just proves that they still do nothing without Trump’s permission.

Too bad he didn’t address the recent studies showing a reduction in peanut allergy associated with a change in early introduction of peanuts…not a change in vaccines. So puzzling.
