They insisted that I had attended an event on Student Financial matters 4 months earlier and they had a record that I’d “expressed interest in hearing from Pandora” and said something else about me changing my decision. This reply finally did the trick!

They then said how sorry they were that I “no longer wish” to be on their newsletter and asked me to provide data to verify my details to be unsubscribed. I pointed out that as I had not signed up, I didn’t know what data they had associated with my email address, so couldn’t do that.

They sent me an email thanking me for signing up to their newsletter at my “local student freshers week event.” I replied that I hadn’t signed up and asked to be removed from their database.
