They weren’t just about higher wage for members, they anchored fair pay across the economy. As that counterweight disappeared, the gains flowed to executives and shareholders instead. If we want wages to track productivity again, restoring collective bargaining power isn’t optional, it’s structural.

Racist beliefs have always existed here, but for decades there were at least social and political guardrails, coded language, dog whistles, consequences. What this administration did was remove the shame and the cost.
