I'm a big geek. TTRPGs, Comics, Video Games, Board Games, Minis, Toys, Anime, Sci Fi, Fantasy or whatever random thought might work its way into my noggin. #dnd #TTRPG player and GM.
My players never want to interact with dragons though! They always seem to run away when one shows up to play or have tea

When they hit level 15 half of them were all "WE could totally hunt a dragon!" but then when one shows up they just ran away screaming

Have a co-worker who finally watched this movie not long ago.

When it came up, she was all "I finally understand why people keep saying What's in the Box?! like that!"

Hrm.. with what I just introduced into one game, Eminemotaur the Minotaur would be able to fit in nicely

Yeah there was apparently a big uproar over that segment with the black centaurs as well as the topless ones (One caused more uproar than the other, you can guess which)

I find it interesting to learn about those old Disney movies. Like there were protests about Peter Pan because of Tinkerbelle

Quite frankly I could get behind Mary Poppins and Pennywise being Timelords

Then we could have that Mary Poppins, James Bond, Doctor Who, IT crossover

Because Bond is definitely a Timelord too

In the last few months he's very much taken to heart "Nothing interesting will ever happen if you don't take a risk"

When everyone else is playing But what if for an hour
He's started going "But what if it works" And just doing it. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but it makes it interesting

One of my players is like this, they're getting much better at piping in now. they're the son of one of the other players and by far the youngest in the group so felt very hesitant to speak up. Also helps that a few other players have made efforts to get their input without me prompting them

There's lots of people in the TTRPG wars that don't actually play the TTRPGs they're arguing about. For them its a thought experiment about how they perceive the game works not their experience with the system

And oddly they stand as some of the loudest and most obnoxious voices in the conversation

If I'm not able to send a PDF to everyone for a new RPG, I'm not running it. Not everyone can afford to buy a TTRPG book that they might use once.

This all makes it so I'm only playing a few TTRPGs usually the big ones, because that's what everyone has books for

Time: we have such varied schedules, so getting together often isn't possible, so jumping from game to game feels like wasted time

Distance: We're spread out across 3 states now so playing online. I can no longer just hand the book to someone to read.

I used to play all sorts of games. When our group still played in person and multiple times a week, it would often be "Hey, found this RPG last week, lets give it a try, here's the book"

But now, Time and distance prevents that from being workable, so we stick to only a couple games

Bonus points for those that used Monty Python quotes from things other than the Holy Grail😇

And throw in a few quotes from Young Ones just for flavor

the last wizard I played used it to keep his clothes clean constantly. Just went through a swamp, cleaned up. Orc blood? no problem. Always hot cup of tea, sure, Bland travel food? Prestidigitation can fix that too!

it never really occurred to him to use the spell on the rest of the party though
November 12, 2025 at 5:29 AM
But really the fact that one movie "killed" him does not matter

All you need is an action cold opener, it ends with him hitting on a woman and ordering his martini, turns to the camera and goes "I'm Bond, James Bond" and that's all the explanation you need

I run a 5e game and I'm very glad my players aren't the type who want to try to seduce anything
November 11, 2025 at 4:44 AM
God these people are stupid. We already know who's standing in the way. its idiotic to think that the Repubs will approach this in good faith. They have proved it time and time again that they won't and some of these Dem Senators keep falling for it when they go "This time we mean it, for realsies"

For me it wasn't that TTRPGs were the problem. It was D&D specifically
As a kid I got the Marvel FASRIP box set for Christmas, but I was dragged away from the D&D figures in the toy aisle because they were "Evil"
November 10, 2025 at 3:45 PM
My mom had the same attitude towards D&D as well

After listening to me running a game she was "That was D&D? You were just talking"

But even to this day she still looks at the cover of the Monster Manual like its going to jump up and attack

But its just below 30 today! That's light jacket or just a hoodie weather!

And this is how I came to play the cleric when I found a group to no longer be the Forever DM in

It was a fun movie. It didn't blow me away, but it was still a solid enjoyable movie
