As it is, it feels like thinly veiled complaining about my bitch wife, instead of a generally applicable life lesson

I don't think it's a bad core principle, but the example wouldn't ring the same alarm bells if it had another paragraph about how the person who doesn't care about bowls in the sink should just accept that their partner does care, and should try to put the bowl away because they love their partner

I could see them being like gendered nouns (hard for every language, because they're basically arbitrary and have to be relearned) or like tones (just having an ear for them makes a huge difference)

Only tangentially related, I wonder how much easier cases are to learn if you're coming at them from another language with cases?
November 22, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Cases make a language so hard to learn, but they feel very elegant once you get a feel for them

It's objectively better, yet more humiliating

There's really no way to protect the people from themselves in a democracy, tbh

There's problems in the GOP, the media, and the Democratic establishment (in that order), but the fundamental problem is the moral rot in a citizenry that doesn't immediately reject a candidate like Trump

Greene could probably get a lot of Republicans to turn on Trump over Epstein, if she wanted to. It'd be a real crossing the Rubicon moment, but I think she has good odds tbh

Very funny to do this with famous myths, instead of random memes
November 11, 2025 at 2:29 PM
Alas, this also probably applies to likes on social media
November 6, 2025 at 4:28 PM
Adding to this, "what happens to the GOP after Trump" has always been a question without a good answer, but it's becoming more and more pressing as Grandpa sunsets more and more. Comparing videos of him today to 2016 is legitimately shocking

Wow, that's wild. I'd figured that prop planes shooting down prop bombers died in 1945, crazy that it's returned lol

This is the first I'm hearing about this, what're they being used for?
October 16, 2025 at 4:21 PM
Maybe the most conservative-coded belief I have is in the nobility and necessity of duty. There are burdens that no one should have to bear, and yet they must be borne

I'm Otto von Bismarck and I approve this message

Here's a gift link to today's Bloomberg Market Wrap, but tariffs seem to be the correct TL;DR: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
Wall Street Traders Jolted as Tariff War Flares: Markets Wrap
Flaring trade tensions between the US and China sent shockwaves across markets Friday, hammering stocks, oil and crypto while spurring a dash for the perceived safety of Treasuries and gold.

Could be, it was a COVID era experiment, so I don't remember the details too well. I'm very happy with my slow cooker beans, but I'll keep that in mind if I ever need beans in a hurry lol
October 10, 2025 at 2:43 AM
I don't know what I was doing wrong, but my instant pot beans always came out mushy

I like instant pots in theory, and I've got a few recipes down pat that are go-tos, but it's rough that there's no good way to try something mid stream and course correct

Oh, and a bulb of garlic. It comes out with that roasted garlic texture, I love it so much
October 10, 2025 at 2:12 AM
That's the base*
October 10, 2025 at 2:11 AM
Throw in whatever spices you want, they'll all taste good, but that's the case
October 10, 2025 at 2:11 AM
Slow cookers are the cheat code to this, imo. Two cups of dry beans, a bunch of water, a tablespoon of salt, and leave it on low right before lunch, they'll be ready by dinner
