I write a blog about film history called Grace Kingsley’s Hollywood. She was an entertainment reporter for the Los Angeles Times from 1910 to 1956. Because she wrote a daily column for many years, she would include all sorts of obscure stuff from whatever press releases crossed her desk.
One hundred years ago this month, Grace Kingsley spoke to screenwriter Agnes Christine Johnston about writing screenplays while being married and raising kids. She had to navigate around lots of fragile male egos. It all sounds exhausting!
