what’s interesting here is the parallel increase in anti-intellectualism. The rejection of learning and reading and critically engaging with content presented and strengthening comprehension skills.

I can’t help but think about how the technology is used as a scapegoat for society’s regression. 🥲

The challenge associated with this is that states are not allowing themselves to be guided by international law in their regulation and redefining what it means to be an intermediary despite the acknowledgment of the changing landscape of moderation.

A more concerning component to trying to adopt IHRL in moderation is that platforms are making efforts to base their decisions on IHRL, but they still enjoy protections under broad liability and limited liability regimes in state based regulation.

I can understand that it is probably because many platforms are using US values concerning expression, but the language we use is very important in how we reshape the online expression regulations.
