don't like seeing people hurting and working to spread joy wherever I can; feels increasingly important

I mean, don't get me wrong--it's revolting. Absolutely stomach-churningly awful. Makes me disgusted on so many levels. I hope it makes everyone feel that way. And keeps on making us feel that way, because it should. None of this shit should be happening. What a colossal failure of a government.

I don't really know how to describe what I'm feeling, but when I first saw the Kennedy Center thing, I sorta felt like we deserved it, somehow. That, like... maybe we should be forced to see that for years afterwards. That we should all have to feel a deep sense of shame for letting it happen.

maybe, but not particularly dangerous. A vehicle that suddenly slows down, maybe after you've been following it for a bit at a constant speed? Might catch you off guard.

But, yeah... Cars should travel more slowly. Maximum speed limit inside city limits should be 30mph, imho.
December 13, 2025 at 5:12 AM
...in the slower direction. For vehicles going above the speed limit? Increasingly likely to be involved in a crash as speed increased.

Vehicles moving more slowly? Less likely.

This makes intuitive sense. Drivers get thrown off when something changes. A consistently slow-movinv vehicle? Annoying,

...in that time, we discovered that ol' Solomon made a mistake when collecting the data.

See, he didn't account for the difference between vehicles traveling slower vs. vehicles slowing down (typically to turn).

As soon as this was taken into account, the "Solomon Curve" disappeared...
December 13, 2025 at 5:06 AM
Actually, turns out that's not true. That logic is based on the so-called "Solomon Curve," which apparently demonstrated that the likelihood of being involved in an accident increased as a vehicle moved either faster *or* slower than the posted limit.

Solomon's study is now over 70 years old, and

My kid's school handled it the right way.

They turned the 67th day of school into an event. Celebrated it. Principal and vp dressed as six and seven.

Downright devious of 'em -- kids now think it's cringe af.

I gotta be sure to give generously for their next fundraiser.

It's just the way these guys operate. They don't care. They just make up some lie, and throw it out there, assuming that no one important is gonna call them out, and they'll look like they "won" or some crap.

Covid kicked my butt this time around. Arm still a little sore; had a big red spot for days. Told my wife I was Jupiter.

Totally worth it, tho. Five years in, and to my knowledge, I've still never actually gotten covid.
