This fabulous Jaguar XJS yesterday. Can’t remember the last time I saw one in the wild.

I’ve been a published author for a whole year! 🎉 🥳

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who’s liked, shared, read and reviewed my Cold War novel, Banshee! Currently sitting at 4.6 ⭐️/5 with 24 ratings 😄

(And if you’ve read it but not rated/reviewed, would you mind leaving review no. 25 on Amazon? 😉)

Thanks! My Cold War #thriller Banshee weaves together events in 1964 and 2022 to answer: what does a body on an ex-RAF airfield have to do with a Vulcan bomber squadron? Who was he? And why was his death hidden?

On paperback and #Kindle, and #free on #KindleUnlimited #KU

I have Book 2 news!

First of all, the good: I had the chance to sit in (and examine) a Canberra PR7 cockpit the other weekend, as well as have a look at a few other bits to help my research. It’s hard to explain just how much seeing my protagonist’s “office” in person has helped.

Just finished reading this - partly for interest, and partly Book 2 research.

It’s fascinating, thought-provoking, and damning. The thread from a state which saw fit to do this - and attempt similar with the Skripals - to the state currently attacking Ukraine is all too clear …

Went for a woodland walk yesterday. Feeling very grateful for sunshine, blue skies, the freedom to enjoy such a walk … and cake 😄

Me: I’m not going to buy any books this weekend -

*spots one on my favourite aircraft, plus another Boys book I didn’t have*

Me: … apart from these 🙈

I did my first author event yesterday! Back at the ACW West Midlands group I went to, all those years ago when I was first writing Banshee. It was so lovely to see some familiar faces.

It was a joy to share some of the Cold War history, aviation and espionage that inspired me to write.

It feels as if the world is trying to set us all on fire (in the UK, at least), so I give you a butterfly on a buddleia. I don’t know which butterfly it is. But it brought me joy earlier, so … enjoy 😊

Found some at the National Archives, though. Plus a pastry. I’m claiming the pecans are healthy!

More photos - couldn’t miss out the Mitchell, the Mosquito or Sally B #historysky

A few photos from Lancs, Tanks & Military Machines at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in East Kirkby on Monday. If you haven’t been to this place, and you’re interested in WW2 aviation, you really should. It’s a cracking day out. And even if you’re not, the food is awesome 😄

Sand, sea (yes, that darker brown line is sea, honest), and blue sky.

What this photo doesn’t show is the wind - but it was still a lovely sight.

Lego Technic build restarted: on bag 15 of 17 of the Volvo FMX lorry and EC230 electric excavator. Young Mr R is very excited to see the excavator beginning to come together 😄

Young Mr R LOVES his Lego, and he’s been saving really hard for the Lego Technic Volvo FMX lorry and excavator. He hit the target and got his Lego this morning 😁

So this weekend, we shall mostly be building a Lego HGV!

Blast from the past while clearing things out today. I hung onto the manual and books from my beloved 1998 SEAT Arosa - which was scrapped nearly 8 years ago 🙈

Would any collector want them? Feels a shame just to bin them 😕 #WeirdCarBS

Thought you’d all like to see this remarkably original and tidy 2001 Citroen Saxo we spotted out and about last week.

Young Mr R calls this an old car, but I can’t quite believe it really is 20+ years old 🤯

I’m not usually one for violence, however, I’m seriously wishing a pox on whoever decided a sycamore tree was a good idea in a suburban house garden …

Also, this appears to be the garden corner where the local cats/wildlife like to go to the toilet. It stinks 🤢

Banshee has reached 20 reviews on Amazon (and an average rating of 4.6 ⭐️/ 5)! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who’s read, reviewed, and shared my book - as a debut author, this means so much to me.

It also gives me that bit of encouragement to crack on with Book 2 😄 #writingCommunity

Today, I have mostly been at the National Archives researching Book 2. The plot bunnies are very happy, and muttering amongst themselves, while I wait for the train back. I’m a happy writer 😄 #writingcommunity

It’s been a while, Weird Car BlueSky, but here’s a belter - a Nissan Terrano II spotted out and about this morning. In remarkable condition. #WeirdCarBS

Spotted this elsewhere. I think other writers, as well as me, might be able to relate to this 🤣 #WritingCommunity
