So much personality in that face! He's about to give some good advice in a kindly and down to earth way

"The reality is that security guards and law enforcement in this country learn to treat Brown and Black people as a threat. … As a Brown Jewish man, I am afraid to even walk near a synagogue, let alone go into one, at a time like this. This experience is not mine alone."

This always makes me think of when you go to a major religious service (Easter, Rosh Hashannah) and the pastor/rabbi decides to scold everyone for not showing up more often.

Why should I show up if you've made the one time I show up unpleasant????

That's totally fine. I've been there <3

My sister once asked a Master Sergeant what the point of Lieutenants was, after one did something particularly dimwitted. And the Master Sergeant replied: "The purpose of Lieutenants is to learn. Your job is to help them do that."

For the longest time my mom's feelings were the center of everything and my family's entire project was to keep her from ever having a bad one.

But after age 65 she's actually worked on this a bit and gotten better! She can just have a sad feeling sometimes, even about missing her kids!

Yes! My sister was in the army (enlisted) and she had the very highest respect, near worshipful sometimes, for the senior NCOs

Ugh, I'm sorry.

There are an awful lot of adults who think that if they have a negative emotion, always it's someone else's fault, not theirs to manage.

I don't see why people aren't still making these. Kale is huge right now

Hah! And when he makes Jeeves sing and he ends every line with a disapproving "sir"

Major trigger warnings for books 4 and 5 though so if you plan to read them feel free to hit me up

I like the books better than the show, but this is possibly the best title sequence ever created

Real helpful. Totally worth burning the world for that

When I converted I often heard, about the afterlife, that, as the living, it's none of our business.

I've talked to mystical Jewish scholars who disagreed, but that's always worked for me.

One of my favorite things about Judaism is the emphasis on life in the here and now
