table I inherited from my grandparents is here :)

there's two leaves you can put in it too, so it potentially seats 10 people

cold brewing #tea actually went decently well this time! left my half-spent Feng Qing china red leaves from a short session the day before sit in .5L of room temp water overnight, and the result is actually pretty decent

My final #tea order for a LONG time has come in -- this one an order of white teas from OneRiverTea. A 350g cake of 2013 shoumei fuding white, 100g cake of 2024 bai mu dan fuding white, and 50g of loose 2025 baihao yenzhen fuding white, and a sample of Anji Baicha green. Very excited to try it all

Got my first whole tea cakes!! 700g (350g*2) of Yi Pin Xuan "Ye Fang Shou Mei" from Fuding

this is my absolute favorite white tea at the moment, and one of my favorite teas in general. very happy to get a supply before de minimus ends

anyone have tips for storage?

Today's tea is a spring 2025 Imperial Gold Needle Yunnan Black/Red Tea. An all-bud red tea that tastes delightful -- though has an odd smell. No full write-up today though -- this is my first try of it. I'm working through a bunch of new teas -- write ups soon!

haven't tea posted in awhile (been saving my thoughts on my stock -- will post soon)

HOWEVER

this sample of a 2015 yi pin xuan "ye fang shou mei" from Fuding may be the best tea I've ever had. it's ASTOUNDING. it would make me excited to get more aged white tea, but tariffs...

a response from elsewhere that I loved

For me, it probably won't become a daily drinker, but it'll be nice to have when I want to show off nice tea :)

Today's #tea is the first from my recent YS batch -- Competition Grade Jin Jun Mei Black Tea. It's a beautiful-looking tea, and the brew is filled with so much hao it makes the otherwise clear tea seem almost cloudy at first glance. But how does it taste?

got my first large-ish #tea import order from Yunnan Sourcing! excited to try all of these

the fourth steep really started to shine. The color at this point was a beautiful clear orange-yellow, and the notes of what I'd expect from an oolong were getting through. A wonderful, though again somewhat muted flavor
March 19, 2025 at 6:40 PM
the first post-wash steep was pretty pale. Not actually a lot of flavor here, though a faint smokiness got through, along with some oolong aftertaste
March 19, 2025 at 6:40 PM
Today's tea is a 2-time Charcoal Roasted High Mountain Oolong

This particular tea is sourced from Dong Ding mountain (apparently a notable location for taiwanese teas).

Today's tea is a Taiwanese Luye Red Oolong

It's a hybrid red-oolong tea that has been briefly fermented to give it some red qualities, then finished like an oolong. A unique experience that I've loved so far --

some pictures of steep 4 and 5

the little "hairs" in the tea are called háo, and just mean the tea leaves were young and/or not heavily processed. it can be a good thing! especially in white teas. It's a little more uncommon in oolong though from what I understand

in this case, here's what a dongfang meiren tea is. This particular one I got here at Jesse's Tea House

bachelorette party night we did a sip and paint

the two themes were "wedding" (from the maid of honor) and "vampire" (from the bride)

so here was my contribution (also my first time using acrylics! practically my first time physically painting since elementary school)
