When I lived in LA almost 15 years ago I found Westwood and Santa Monica quite walkable too, the rest of LA not so much, and walking from one neighborhood to another was impossible. Not mainly because of the distance, but because of the infrastructure (or lack thereof).

About ten years ago, a trans woman competed at the highest level in cycling and it was no problem at all. Her competitors didn't seem to mind, the fans didn't care. It's sad how the world has changed. Happy to read that the court ruled in favor of the athlete here. Thanks for sharing!

We must change this mindset that the essential and most critical work in a field is always the first one. That distorted view has caused a lot of problems in psychological science already. The first work is just that—the start. Every field should be evaluated based on the complete body of evidence.

Hero worship in science is rotten. There are no giants on whose shoulders we stand. We're all part of a community that spans time and geography. Getting fixated on origin stories is very Marvel. Science doesn't happen in heroland though.
