I’m puzzled by the whole issue. Have there been conflicting leaks from Govt. or, have journalists from some papers (eg The Times) enjoyed months of trying to scare the living daylights out of as many people as they can?

It’s all pretty incomprehensible for your average (not obsessed with politics) voter. There’s so much to sort out in UK and it seems the media (not you obvs) like to confect a psychodrama at every opportunity.

Difficult to know what to be most afraid of. Every day The Times contains at least two stories of what an absolute catastrophe the budget will be for everyone everywhere. For the record I hope they raise taxes and get public services functioning properly.

I will be visiting Ypres and Cologne in 2026. My parents both had great uncles who died as very young men in WW1. Their families have never had the wherewithal to visit their graves and it feels important to go there and recognise their sacrifice.
