I guess another problem is that artists who make a living through commissions and selling their own art (as merch or otherwise) depend on spaces with a huge general audience for potential customers... so these artists especially are kinda shackled to these big corpo places :/

I rly avoid general socmed like the plague now bc of all the AI slop flood, too...

A friend of mine has made her own geocities website recently bc she got so fedup with all these backstabby online galleries and also how socmed functions in general
I get her.
Only so much I can take before packing up and retreating into more controlled and private spaces myself.

I stopped using dA when they started allowing AI, though tbh the place has been in a steady decline for like +15 years now.
Tumblr was the same with the nsfw ban and isn't BSKY now also leaning into some stricter nsfw moderation?

I feel like this has been the story of every online platform so far: artists come, make platform valuable and huge with their art and movies, then platform owners turn around to immediately put the unlubed dildo of late-stage capitalism up their tushes, making them bolt.

What a striking piece!! I love her expression, eyes are lowkey soul-piercing even though she is not directly looking at the viewer, even!
Also the mix of reds, subtle greens and grey is sooo good! What a delicious palette!
The composition and geometric elements are also very pleasing to my eyes!

AE has pretty good playback too but you can't do fbf in it... only import pre-animated fbf segments which isn't what I an looking for, sadly

I know a lot of the younger up n coming artists use FlipaClip but as far as I know it's tablet/mobile only eugh no can do
