But just read 60 votes may be needed in Senate v simple majority to advance. (Wonder why not simple majority as in the House, no constitutional wiz here)

I don't disagree that they should have held out at least another week after elections. All either retiring or not up til at least 2028. I guess I'm hoping that SOMEhow this will work out in the end.

The TX seat is a runoff between 2 Dems. Not sure about Sherrill's but presuming a blue seat.

But here is my question: does this not compel Johnson to call the House in, swear in Grivalda, to vote on amended CR before the government re-opens? If he doesn't - how can anyone put the shutdown on anyone but the GOP?

And now - House must reconvene to vote on the amended CR. Which means MAGA Mike is compelled to swear in Grivalda (correct?). And that puts the release of the Epstein files into motion. Not a bad upside.
