He knows that he isn’t any better than these nobles, that he simply panders to the Fifth Prince—the only person whose parent holds power over his—on a daily basis while the others only see him once a month. They can’t tone down their obsequious words and actions to small, dignified streams like he can. Yet he turns toward the window while stuffing his mouth with potato shreds. As if he couldn’t care less about these smarmy court politics. As if he and the prince are brothers in name and in blood because they were raised together.
